What would be some unique and interesting persuasive speech topics?
I originally planned on doing a persuasive speech on how human intentions can affect our reality (quantum mechanics). Another girl in my class said thats what she’s doing and magically is using the same sources and video clips. She claims she already wrote her speech so her rigidness is forcing me to throw out my research and pick a new topic. Please only serious topic suggestions.
The speech also has to be motivational

The answer above mine is a good one. It’s difficult to tell someone else what they should give a persuasive speech about.
For some people quantum mechanics is a great topic that they are very excited about. For others, xbox 360 vs PS3 would be a lot better topic.
Don’t box yourself into thinking this speech has to be about something you think others will think is intellectual. Remember, Microsoft and Sony both have large marketing, advertising and PR departments who’s jobs are essentially a good persuasive speech.
Take something you feel strongly about and, for lack of a better word, preach about it. More interesting topics that you feel strongly about will keep the audience entertained, that will end up in getting you a better grade.

well some topics that i have used for persuaive topics are the sale of human organs should be legalized, people should be donors and condoms & birth control should be offered in high school. i’m not sure they are motivational but its an idea.

- Would this ear piercing look ok or just weird?
- What would you rather get from your partner/spouse? A nice dinner or night of sex?
- What would an interesting fantasy plot be? A boring one?
- What would be a nice birthday gift for a young man in his late teens?
- SURVEY: What would be something funny to put in a get well/cheer up type of card?

Hi,
While interesting, I don’t see how exactly quantum mechanics is “inspirational.” Probably best than that you choose another topic.
Perhaps you would like to persuade the group on how funding for research on cancer, ALS, autism, and other currently incurable diseases helps make progress everyday toward finding a cure. That would be simple to persuade and also highly motivational.
This is just a topic I am passionate about. But in my public speaking experience, the key to a truly great speech is passion. If you yourself are not highly interested in and motivated by the topic, the audience will see right through that. Thus, they will become bored and disinterested. Conversely, if you are passionate about the topic in which you speak, your audience will be fully engaged, easier to persuade as well as motivate.
